Trauma-Informed, Lived-Experience Counselling You Can Trust

When you're hurting, you deserve support that's real, human, and responsive - not distant or clinical.
At Overcome Trauma Stuck Points Counselling, we understand that emotional wounds need care just as urgently as physical ones. We take your pain seriously, respond promptly, and stay with you through distress - not just during appointments. Our focus is always on safety, reassurance, and stabilisation: meeting you where you are, when you need it most.
We're prepared to walk with you deep into the 'long grass' of your emotional trials,
wherever your journey has taken you, no matter how distressing it has been.
No tragedy or life event is “too difficult” to approach, and no trauma is “too minor” to matter. Whether your experience involves abuse, imprisonment, warfare, torture, or physical injury, what counts is the impact you feel personally.
Our Lived Experience
We know and understand trauma from both sides - we've lived it, studied it, and worked through it. Our counselling service was developed by trauma survivors with lived experience of PTSD, C-PTSD, ASD, ADHD, OCD, major depression, anxiety, and Bipolar. That lived experience helps us connect with people who feel frustrated by textbook counselling. We know how it feels when theory doesn't touch what you're truly feeling. That's why we offer genuine empathy, not sympathy - and practical steps toward regaining control and hope.
You'll notice we use real-world language, not medical labels.
You might describe what you're feeling as dread, guilt, racing thoughts, or constant worry - and that's the language we'll use too. It's human, accurate, and authentic. We'll never try to squeeze your experience into neat diagnostic boxes. Every person's trauma story is unique - your recovery plan should be too.
Overcoming Stuck Points
A big part of our work is helping you identify Stuck Points - those rigid, distressing thoughts and beliefs that feel impossible to move beyond. Stuck Points are often the mind's default response to unhealed trauma.
We help you recognise that they are still thoughts - and, like any others, they can be reshaped into kinder, more forgiving interpretations.
It may feel hard to believe this is possible, and this is because the 'stickiness' of Stuck Points is directly related to hurt that caused them - and that's a normal trauma response.
The deeper the pain, the more rigid the associated thought loops.
We will help you see and feel that you can separate the hurt from the belief it can't be healed - and in that space, the possibility of change appears.
Tackling Rumination
Rumination - your mind's attempt to rewrite an unbearable past - is one of the clearest signs of stuck thinking.
The mind replays past traumas in the hope of finding a different ending, or tries to find meaning in memories that feel too heavy to bear.
We help you move forward by gently interrupting these mental loops - helping you reset, regain calm, and safely reach a place where acceptance feels possible.
Through compassionate guidance, we'll work with you to loosen the grip of those repetitive thoughts, one thread at a time, until you can begin to step free from the cycle and breathe again.
Our Counselling Framework is a simple, grounded approach that helps you:
 |
Notice what's happening inside you |
 |
Identify the thought or feeling that's holding you back |
 |
Challenge its truth and impact |
 |
Overcome it with new ways of thinking and acting |
This process helps you move from confusion to clarity, from self-blame to self-understanding, and from mere survival toward genuine growth.
We help you make sense of what's happening in your mind and body - in language you can grasp and apply every day. You'll learn how your thoughts shape emotions and behaviour, and how to interrupt the patterns that keep you stuck.
Together, we will discover ways to make peace with the past, face trauma memories, break free from rumination loops, and rebuild confidence to take on new life roles.
Above all, we believe recovery is possible.
We bring together authentic empathy, lived insight, creativity, and practical psychology to help you rebuild your story - one that reflects who you truly are, not just what's happened to you.
